Bollywood's charming and handsome actor Shahid Kapoor, who started his career as a background dancer and is now a successful star, recently appeared on a podcast with Raj Shamani. In this podcast, he opened up about his struggles, career, successes and failures, and personal life.

When He Didn't Have Money to Buy Clothes

In the podcast, Shahid reminisced about his early days and shared how he didn't have enough money to buy clothes. He said, "Today, people say that Shahid has a great fashion sense. I laugh when I hear that because I remember when I couldn't even gather enough money to buy clothes from the local market."

Shahid went on to say, “My father is a character actor, and my mother is a Kathak dancer. I spent my childhood in rented houses and had to give numerous auditions. I never felt special because of it. I gave 250 auditions in my career, and there were many rejections. Some people start their careers traveling in BMWs with top directors, but I reached here only after giving 250 auditions.”

Bullied by Other Kids

In the podcast, Shahid also shared how he was bullied by other children because his parents separated when he was just 3 years old. He lived with his mother and could only meet his father once a year. He said, "I come from a broken home. When I was three, my parents separated, and I mostly stayed with my mother. I could meet my father only once a year."

Parents Are Like Two Legs

Shahid explained how difficult it was growing up with separated parents. He said, "Parents are like your two legs. But when one leg is missing, it feels like you can't balance yourself. Both parents play an important role, and you can't define it. As a child, I was made to feel different because I didn't have both parents together. Children can be really mean sometimes. They don't know what they are doing, but it felt like my life was over."

Shahid also revealed that he doesn’t want his children to follow in his footsteps as actors. He said, "Always do the right thing. I always try to do the right thing, whether I like it or not, whether it harms me or not. I’ll always do the right thing."

He continued, "There are many things I don’t want them to take away from me. I want them to be naturally more confident, which I think they already are. I wasn’t that confident naturally. Ideally, I don’t want them to do my job. Don’t come into the film industry. Do something else, it’s a rough ride with many ups and downs. If they want to, it’s their choice, but I’d suggest they choose something simpler."
