Q: We all have special memories and mischievous moments from childhood. Your fans would love to know — how naughty were you as a kid? What were your favorite childhood pranks and dishes?

Samriddhi: I absolutely loved watching Motu Patlu! In fact, people used to call my sister and me ‘Motu-Patlu’ because we were both so mischievous. But along with all the mischief, there was an equal amount of love between us. Even today, I compare Motu-Patlu to Chinki-Minki, because just like them, we were always full of fun. That’s how it is between sisters — a little fight, a little teasing, but a lot of love.

If someone gave us even one candy, we’d instantly say, “Give one to my sister too!” And if anyone scolded or slapped my sister, I would jump in and say, “Hit me too!” That was our world.

When it comes to food, rajma-chawal and kadhi-chawal were always in high demand at home. My sister Chinki and I would beg Mom every day, “Please make rajma-chawal or kadhi-chawal today!” Mom would lovingly prepare it and serve us. But here’s what usually happened — she’d hand the plate to Chinki, and after a while, Chinki would sneak back into the kitchen and say, “Mom, you didn’t give me any!” Mom would look shocked and say, “But I just gave it to you!” and Chinki would grin mischievously and say, “No Mom, you gave it to Minki!”

That’s how our childhood passed — filled with laughter, innocence, and endless mischief. Now I’ve grown up, with more responsibilities, but deep down, that ‘Motu-Patlu childhood’ still lives on in me. I just hope that innocence, that laughter, and that bond never fade away — because some relationships don’t change with age, they only grow stronger.
