The popular TV drama show Vanshaj is soon bidding farewell, leaving viewers and the cast in shock and disbelief. In light of this, Mahir Pandhi, who plays the character Digvijay Mahajan, also known as DJ, shared his thoughts with MayaPuri. He reflected on his experiences with the show, his bond with the cast, and the love he has received from the audience.

  • You’ve received immense love from the audience. What memories do you have from this show, and how do you view your journey?

I have received a tremendous amount of love, respect, and appreciation from this show. I consider it a blessing, and no amount of thanks would be enough. When you spend a year and a half in the same place with the same crew and cast, sharing experiences like going to the gym, shooting, and walking together in the evenings, it feels like a joint family. What I will miss the most are the relationships I've built here. I will deeply miss playing the character of Digvijay Mahajan, as well as the freedom I had as an artist—whether I’ll get that again, I don’t know.

  • The news of Vanshaj ending is heartbreaking for the fans. What would you like to say to them?

I also wish the show wouldn’t end, but since it’s happening, we have to accept it. "When something ends, something good begins." So, we’ll meet you all soon, somewhere.

  • You’ve worked with various actresses on this show, like Anjali and Shalin. What was your experience like with them?

Here, the environment is different from the usual Mumbai shoots. Being in the same location, sharing homes, and working together creates a family-like atmosphere. Swastik Productions has done a remarkable job in shaping this environment. It’s not just about Vanshaj. After the show wraps up, I will miss everyone else involved in different shows as well. The most beautiful part of this show is that I’ve never seen such a great cast before. It was a blessing to be surrounded by senior and talented artists with rich experience. While we were learning and growing, their guidance was invaluable.

  • How did you react when you found out the show was ending? Was it expected, shocking, or acceptable?

When you’re enjoying something and someone tells you that it will soon be taken away, it’s naturally disappointing. We were not expecting it. To be honest, the show was doing well; our TRP ratings were good, and the audience was enjoying it. For an actor, it’s crucial to enjoy what you do because that enjoyment translates to the audience.

  • What would you like to say to the fans?

First of all, thank you so much for your love and appreciation. I can’t express enough gratitude. The love you’ve given me, even for a negative character, is priceless. You appreciated my work, and that means the world to me as an artist. This character has had a beautiful journey, and it was possible because of the love you all showered upon me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
