He made me stand in the middle of the room in front of everyone and said 'Now tell me how you are feeling'".

Alia Bhatt's first reaction to Mahesh Bhatt's advice was "This is so bad. Why would you do this?" She further added, "He said just do it. I did it and it was actually the best thing he could have asked for because I automatically felt normal because Emraan was there. Emraan Hashmi and he said 'Alia, you will feel like this before every film, before every shot'."

Mahesh was never a regular father

She said that he does not sit with her every Sunday, does not take her to watch movies or remind her to do well in school. She said, "He is the opposite, he used to tell me to fail. He used to say that you must fail, if you do not fail then I will be very angry with you." When the actress was asked how he reacts if she fails, Alia replied, "He used to say that it is good. He completely removed the idea from my mind that failure is a bad thing".
