Actually. The year 2024 has been a bit disappointing at the box office for Hindi films, except for a few successes, most films failed to perform well. Talking about this, Anupam Kher said, "Going to the cinema is something that a person does with his family, so you have to improve the quality of cinema because you are competing with streaming platforms and millions of sources of entertainment in the world. Why don't we raise our level?"

Continuing his talk, Anupam Kher said that the biggest challenge for the industry right now is storytelling. India is such a big country, and we are not telling our stories. Hindi cinema is still struggling to tell stories that are from our land. Most of the stories feel like you have seen them somewhere, sometimes their sequences have already been seen in other films. The best way to rediscover yourself is to look back and look inside yourself.

The actor spoke on the increasing demand for OTT platforms

During the conversation, Anupam Kher also shared, "I have been in films for 40 years now. Every time we blame the rise of something for the theatre not doing well, but cinema is still going on. When VHS came or TV became commercial, people thought films would end, but it didn't. The same thing happened with OTT. But what OTT has done is it has created jobs for a lot of people and improved the quality of content."

Anupam Kher gave the example of his film 

Citing the example of his recent film, Anupam Kher said, "What makes Vijay 69 different is that its script is completely original. Nothing has been seen before anywhere. There are no unnecessary high-speed shots or slow-mo. It is a human story but he also defends theatrical films saying that Hindi cinema also has to keep in mind audiences of many languages ​​- whether it is Malayalam, Telugu, or Gujarati. But now the time has come to write such stories where people say 'Yes, we want to go to the theatre and watch this film'."
