Mandi MP and Bollywood actor-producer Kangana Ranaut's upcoming film Emergency has been in the news for a long time. The film is surrounded by a lot of controversies due to which the film had to be postponed. The actress's film has been accused of 'defaming' the Sikh community. Meanwhile, a local court in Chandigarh has sent a legal notice to Kangana Ranaut.
Chandigarh court sent notice to Kangana
In fact, a district court in Chandigarh has issued a 'notice' to Kangana in connection with Emergency. Former District Bar Association president and advocate Ravinder Singh Bassi has reportedly filed an application claiming that Kangana has 'tried to malign the image of Sikhs' in Emergency. He has also claimed that the upcoming release contains several 'false allegations' against the community and urged to register a case against Kangana.
The case will be heard on December 5
The report further states that the matter will be discussed on December 5. The lawyer's petition comes just days after the Shiromani Akali Dal accused Kangana and the film of misrepresenting the community and distorting historical facts.
Kangana spoke on the delay of the film
During an event, Kangana talked about the delay of the film. She said, "This is our history which has been deliberately hidden. We have not been told about it. This is not the era of good people." After this, Kangana Ranaut said, "My film is ready to be released. It has got a certificate from the censor board. 4 historians have monitored our film. We have proper documents. There is nothing wrong in my film. But some people call Bhindranwale a saint, revolutionary or leader. They threatened through arguments. I have also received threats. Previous governments have declared Khalistanis as terrorists. He was not a saint who was sitting in a temple with an AK47."
Kangana will be seen in the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi
Written and directed by Kangana Ranaut, 'Emergency' stars her in the lead role and also features Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair and the late Satish Kaushik in pivotal roles. Produced by Zee Studios, Manikarnika Films and Renu Pitti, the film's music is composed by Sanchit Balhara and GV Prakash Kumar, while the screenplay and dialogues are written by Ritesh Shah. Kangana Ranaut plays the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the film. The film was earlier scheduled to release on September 6.
