Diljit Dosanjh talks about alcohol and censorship

Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh is currently in the news for his "Dil-Luminati Tour". Meanwhile, Diljit Dosanjh has criticized a news anchor who targeted and challenged him for using alcohol-related lyrics in his songs. On Friday, Diljit posted a long video on Instagram, in which he spoke to the audience in Lucknow. He said that if singers are asked to censor their songs, then the rules should also apply to Indian films.

Actually, Diljit Dosanjh shared a video on social media. In the video, Diljit said, "There is an anchor sahab, I definitely want to talk about him on TV. He will challenge me and Diljit will make a hit song without alcohol. For your information sir, Born to Shine, Goat, Lover, Kinni Kinni, Naina are many of my songs that stream more than Patiala Peg on Spotify. That challenge of yours has gone in vain because I already have many songs that are hits and mention alcohol more than Patiala Peg. For your information, sir, Born to Shine, Goat, Lover, Kinni Kinni and Naina, there are many such songs that are streamed more than Patiala Peg on Spotify. Therefore, your challenge is not valid because many of my songs are bigger hits than Patiala Peg."

Diljit wants equal censorship for everyone

Diljit further said, "I am not defending my song or myself. I just want that if you want to impose censorship then you will have to impose censorship on villages, censorship will have to be imposed on Indian cinema as well. Right? In Indian cinema, the bigger the gun, the bigger the hero. Which big actor is there who has not done a song or scene on alcohol? Is there anyone? Can you remember anyone? I can't remember anyone. So if you want to impose censorship then please impose it on everyone."

"Artists are soft targets" - Diljit Dosanjh

Not only this, Diljit further continued his talk and said, "Artists seem to be easy targets for you. That is why you tease the singers who sing. But sir, for your information, let me tell you that the films I have made have also received the National Award. So our work is not cheap. It is very easy for us to put a disclaimer during the concert that alcohol is injurious to health and then we continue singing. This is the same thing, isn't it? Then it seems that we are targeting someone. So, if you have spread this wrong news, then it will be called fake news. I challenge you to run the correct news."

The controversy started before his Hyderabad show when the state government sent him a notice instructing him not to sing songs related to alcohol, drugs and violence. Since his concert in Ahmedabad, Diljit has been criticizing the double standards in targeting musicians.
