Docu-series on Diljit Dosanjh in the works – Here’s everything we know so far

Diljit Dosanjh, who once lived in hiding from his local audience in Punjab, has now managed to make a name for himself globally. It seems that this story has inspired Hollywood, and that is why Diljit's life and music could now be turned into a docu-series. Yes, you heard it right. We have learned that Diljit may be getting a docu-series of his own, and it is a Hollywood project. 

Hollywood has its eyes on this

A Diljit Dosanjh docu-series is likely to be made, and Hulu US is eyeing it, reports Mid-Day. The source said, "The OTT giant recognizes the potential of Diljit's story. He is an artist who has broken barriers from Punjabi music to Hindi cinema and the international arena. They want to show his story from start to finish - his early struggles, how he ventured into Punjabi and Hindi films, the cross-cultural appeal of his music, and his rise in the US. Through him, the series will explore the cultural impact of Punjabi music globally."

Where did the conversation begin?

The talks for the docu-series began at Coachella. Diljit was the only Indian artist to perform there in 2023. Of course, the stupendous success of the Dil-Luminati Tour in 2024 was also a big contributor to his fame and popularity. Trying to achieve all this, Hulu approached Diljit and they are in talks about the docu-series. However, all the details, including when and how the show will stream in India, are also being worked out.

Where is this project at the moment?

The documentary series is likely to include footage from Diljit's past and future tours. Apart from Diljit talking about his life, interviews with several celebrities will also be a part of the documentary series. Diljit wants to ensure that the project does justice to his story and maintains the authenticity of the Punjabi music industry. The makers hope to film the project this year itself.
