That's when I made Section 375 (2019) with him. Even then, many people told us not to work with him because of his unprofessional behavior. His energy on set is absolutely toxic. Section 375 gave him recognition. Later, I signed him for Drishyam 2 (2022). He added, "He got all the big offers only after Drishyam 2. Before that, he was sitting at home for 3-4 years."

Kumar Mangat Pathak further explained his thoughts on the actor's stardom after his recent successes. "Also, it's important to note that Ajay Devgn leads the Drishyam franchise. Chhavaa is a Vicky Kaushal film that also stars Akshay. The same goes for Dhurandhar. It's a Ranveer Singh film. If Akshay were to do a solo film, it wouldn't even make 50 crore rupees in India. Forget Lifetime. If he thinks he's a superstar, he should try making a superstar-budget film with a studio and see who will greenlight his film with that kind of budget."
