ED Raids Dino Morea’s Home in ₹65 Cr Mithi River Desilting Scam

ED raids actor Dino Morea's residence: Actor Dino Morea has got into a big trouble. In fact, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday raided more than 15 places in Mumbai and Kerala in connection with the alleged Rs 65 crore scam in the Mithi River cleaning scam. The premises searched include the residences of Bollywood actor Dino Morea, BMC assistant engineer Prashant Ramugade, and several contractors.

Dino Morea has been questioned twice

Let us tell you that actor Dino Morea, a close associate of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray, was earlier questioned twice by the EOW. Dino Morea was called for questioning because investigators found several phone calls between him, his brother Santino Morea and the main accused Ketan Kadam. The content and purpose of these calls are now being investigated.

What is the whole matter?

Actually, Mumbai Mahanagarpalika had got the Mithi River cleaned. For this, sludge pusher and dredging machines were used. These machines were bought from Kochi-based company Matprop Technical Services Private Limited for a huge amount. When the matter was investigated, it was found that Ketan Kadam and Jai Joshi had committed a scam of Rs 65 crore in the name of cleaning by colluding with the officials of Matprop company and the officials of BMC's Storm Water Drains Department.

A fraud case registered against 13 people, including contractors

The EOW had earlier booked 13 individuals, including BMC officials and contractors, for their alleged involvement in fraudulent payments for river cleaning work that was never carried out between 2007 and 2021. Investigators suspect that tenders for hiring specialised dredging equipment were manipulated to benefit select suppliers, resulting in huge losses to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The SIT is currently probing the extensive expenditure of ₹1,100 crore incurred on the Mithi river cleaning project between 2005 and 2021 to identify widespread financial irregularities.

Dino Morea's work front

Talking about Dino Morea's work, he was last seen in the Netflix series ' The Royals'. In this show, he played the character of Salauddin aka Salad. Ishaan Khattar and Bhumi Pednekar were in the lead roles in this show. The show received mixed response from the audience. Currently, the actor is in the news for Akshay Kumar starrer 'Housefull 5'. The film ' Housefull 5 ' has been released today, June 6.
