Choreographer and filmmaker Farah Khan visited Boney Kapoor's plush Mumbai home in her latest vlog, where she filmed a fun cooking segment with her usual companions, her cook Dilip and Boney's daughter Khushi Kapoor. Khushi is making her big screen debut with the upcoming romantic comedy film Loveyaapa, which also stars Aamir Khan's son Junaid. Farah has built a successful side business for herself on YouTube; her channel now has over 1.2 million subscribers.
I was surprised to see the house
Before their cooking challenge, in which Khushi and her father attempt to make scrambled eggs, Farah spends time giving Dilip a tour of the huge house. He is stunned to see the many paintings adorning the walls and is even more surprised to see the huge swimming pool outside. Farah and Dilip joke about how 'poor' they are in comparison to Boney.
While waiting for Khushi, Farah interacted with Boney and called him a 'great man' and a 'tycoon'. She asked him if having a big house was always his dream, and Boney said, "When I was a kid, we would often visit Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor's house, and I would tell myself that one day, I will build a house as big as theirs. That was my initial inspiration. Maybe I have achieved just 1% of what they had. If you had come to Chennai, I would show you my beach house."
Boney's father, the late filmmaker Surinder Kapoor, worked with Raj Kapoor and his family. When they went through a tough time, Surinder Kapoor moved in with his family in an outhouse in the Kapoor family compound. "My father was brought to Bombay by Prithviraj Kapoor. My grandfather handed over my father to Prithviraj ji because my father had quit about 10-12 jobs. He was thrown out because he was supporting the workers, fighting for their issues," he said in an interview to Galta Plus. "My father was in debt. We were in a lot of trouble."
In an interview, he talked about buying his first house and his first bungalow. He said, "I made 'Hum Paanch' for Rs 11 lakh. Woh Saat Din I made for Rs 21 lakh and these films gave me good returns on investment. They were profitable. Like after the success of Hum Paanch, I bought my first house. We used to live in rental properties before that. With the profit I got from Woh Saat Din, I got my sister married. I bought my first bungalow after Mr. India. With every film, there was some growth and now I am here."
