Illegal Betting Apps Case: South superstar Vijay Deverakonda appeared before the Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday, 6 August 2025 in connection with the investigation of the money laundering case (Illegal Betting Apps Case) related to illegal online betting and gambling by some platforms. It is being told that ED officials have asked many questions to Vijay Deverakonda in this matter. At present, the actor's statement is being recorded.

Let us tell you that earlier actor Prakash Raj had appeared before the ED in connection with this case on 30 July. Apart from Prakash Raj, the ED had also summoned actors Rana Daggubati, Vijay Deverakonda and Lakshmi Manchu for questioning in the case. ED officials have also issued a notice to actor Daggubati Rana to appear for hearing on August 11. Along with this, Manchu Lakshmi Prasanna has also been sent a notice to appear for questioning on August 13.

In fact, the FIR was registered after a complaint by businessman Phanindra Sarma. Vijay Deverakonda's name was also registered in the FIR along with several other prominent personalities. The complaint, filed on March 19 this year, highlights a disturbing trend of celebrities and influencers promoting illegal gambling apps, which violate the Public Gambling Act of 1867.

According to the FIR, the accused stars and media influencers have been charged under Section 318(4), 112, (r/w) 49 of the Indian Justice Code, Section 4 of the Telangana State Gaming Act (TSGA) and Section 66-D of the Information Technology Act. These legal provisions relate to fraudulent activities, illegal gaming promotion and online fraud. The FIR states that Rana Daggubati and Prakash Raj were associated with the promotion of Junglee Rummy, while Vijay Deverakonda supported A23, Manchu Lakshmi was associated with Yolo 247, Pranitha was associated with Fairplay and Nidhi Agarwal was associated with Jeet Win.

On the other hand, there have been protests in Tamil Nadu against the Vijay Deverakonda starrer film 'Kingdom'. Tamil nationalist groups have expressed their anger and said that this has hurt the sentiments of Sri Lankan Tamils. They have opposed the screening of this film. They reached the theatres where the film was being shown and protested. The film 'Kingdom' was released on 31 July.
