Salman Khan's long-time bodyguard Shera is no longer limited to just security. Shera, who did a cameo in a song in the 2011 film 'Bodyguard' 14 years ago, has now created a stir on the internet by acting in an advertisement. Recently, he took part in the Raksha Bandhan campaign of a grocery delivery app, which won the hearts of the audience.
Shera becomes everyone's 'brother' - Powerful style in Raksha Bandhan ad
Instamart's new ad campaign features Shera in the role of 'bhai'. The story of the ad shows him helping different women - when someone is stuck in the rain, Shera gets her an auto, and when he saves a college girl from an uncomfortable boy, Shera's character is portrayed as a protective shield and a supportive brotherly figure. The ad ends with the emotional line: "This Raksha Bandhan, send a Rakhi to your brother, like he always stands by you." The ad also has beautiful wordplay with the word 'bhai', which is a reference to Salman Khan's popular title 'Bhaijaan', which was loved by fans.
There was a stir on social media
The ad was released on Friday and quickly went viral on Instagram and other social media. Marketing pages and fan clubs shared it widely. Many users compared Shera to Yuvraj Singh and Mika Singh. Some jokingly wrote – "Now Shera himself has become a brother, from brother's bodyguard to brother of brothers!"
Who is Shera?
Shera's real name is Gurmeet Singh Jolly. He has been working as Salman Khan's personal bodyguard and security head since 1995. He has also started his own security company, "Tiger Security", which has provided security services to many Bollywood and international stars so far. In 2017, when Justin Bieber's concert was held in Mumbai, the responsibility of his security was also in Shera's hands.
The journey from bodybuilding to becoming a bodyguard
Shera started his career in bodybuilding.
- In 1987, he won the Mumbai Junior title
- Runner-up of Mr Maharashtra Junior in 1988
He joined the security line in the early 90s and soon after, he joined Salman Khan.
Salman's 'Sikander' was a flop
While the Shera ad is going viral, Salman Khan's recent film 'Sikander' did not get the success expected. Directed by AR Murugadoss, the film starred Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, and Sathyaraj. The film grossed just ₹176 crore on a budget of ₹200 crore, making it a box office disappointment.
