In fact, remembering Dharmendra in an interview, Jaideep Ahlawat said, "I think among all the cinema lovers in the country, there wasn't a single person who didn't feel bad. While promoting 'Ekkis,' I felt a void. I wish he had been there for all these promotions. He should have been with us to see this film, to see his work. So, anyway, it's a hollow fantasy. It's fate; nothing can be done about it."

Jaideep Ahlawat, while talking about his time with Dharmendra on the sets of 21, said, "You feel lucky to be a part of a project where a legend is there. I had a lot of fun working with him. When I was with him, I never felt like I was working with such a great legend. He made you feel like family. He was constantly telling good jokes, making little one-liners, reciting beautiful poems, and telling stories. I really enjoyed working with him."

What is the story of Ikkis? (Ikkis Plot)

Twenty-One begins with a flashback to 1971. Arun (Agastya Nanda), a tank commander, is about to go to war with Pakistan. Twenty-One unfolds through two parallel stories that eventually intersect. One is about Second Lieutenant Arun Khetrapal (Agastya Nanda), whose bravery during the Battle of Basantar in the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War earned him recognition and a posthumous Param Vir Chakra. The second story focuses on his father, retired Brigadier M.L. Khetrapal (Dharmendra), who travels to Pakistan for a college reunion after three decades and is the guest of Brigadier Naseer (Jaideep Ahlawat) of the Pakistani Army in Lahore. The film portrays Arun as a very good student, driven by discipline and a strong desire to advance. After his schooling in Delhi, he joins the NDA in 1967 and soon becomes a cadet captain of the Foxtrot Squadron. The initial parts focus on his academy life, the hardships of training, and the moment when preparation loses out to the reality of war.
