Javed Akhtar On Pakistani Artists: The terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, has shaken the entire country. This tragedy has not only created anger and sadness among the people, but has also restarted the debate on this issue. At the same time, after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, FWICE has demanded a ban on Pakistani artists in India, and Javed Akhtar has supported the ban, citing one-way traffic in cross-border cooperation. He has also said that he has no complaints with the people of Pakistan.
Javed Akhtar shares his opinion on banning Pakistani artists in India
In fact, during a conversation, Javed Akhtar has given his opinion on this issue. He shared that, "The first question should be whether we should allow Pakistani artists to come here. There are two answers to this, both of which are equally logical. It has been a one-sided matter. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Ghulam Ali, Noor Jahan came to India, we gave them a grand welcome. Faiz Ahmed Faiz, who is the poet of the subcontinent, was living in Pakistan. When he came to India during the reign of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he was treated like a head of state, the kind of respect he was given by the government. I am afraid it was never reciprocated, I mean I have no complaints with the people of Pakistan".
Javed Akhtar raised this question
Along with this, Javed Akhtar raised the question of why Lata Mangeshkar, a very popular Indian singer in Pakistan, never performed there. Talking about this, Javed Akhtar said, "The great poets of Pakistan have written songs for Lata Mangeshkar. In the 60s and 70s, she was the most popular singer of India and Pakistan, but why did Lata Mangeshkar not perform even once in Pakistan? I will not complain to the people of Pakistan, she was loved, but there were some obstacles, obstacles of the system, which I do not understand. This is one-way traffic".
"I will forbid Pakistanis working in India"- Javed Akhtar
Javed Akhtar said that if we block Pakistani artists, then who are we pleasing in Pakistan? He said, "The second, equally valid view is that if we block Pakistani artists in India, then who are we pleasing in Pakistan? The army and the fundamentalists. This is what they want - a high wall between India and Pakistan so that Pakistanis cannot see what kind of freedom and privileges every citizen of India enjoys. They want distance, it suits them. Sociability does not suit them." He said, "Both these questions are equally valid. But, at this time, I would refuse (Pakistanis working in India)".
The film 'Abir Gulaal' banned in India
Meanwhile, Fawad Khan's comeback film Abir Gulaal has been banned in India. Sources in the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry revealed last week that the Bollywood film Abir Gulaal, starring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, will not be allowed to release in India. The decision comes after strong protests from various groups, including Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, who opposed the film's release, which was earlier scheduled for May 9. Several cinema halls also announced that they would not screen the film. Also, two songs from the film that had been released earlier have been removed from YouTube.
