The KASHISH Pride Film Festival, formerly known as KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival, is a major LGBTQIA+ film festival held annually in Mumbai, India. It's the first of its kind to be both mainstream and get government approval in the country.
This year marks the 15th edition of the festival, which runs from May 15th to 19th, 2024. The name change reflects a focus on inclusivity and celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community. The festival showcases films by and about LGBTQIA+ people, with a special focus on underrepresented voices.
KASHISH is now considered one of the world's top LGBTQIA+ film festivals, attracting nearly 9,000 attendees and screening over 100 films each year. It's a major event not just for cinema, but for LGBTQIA+ pride in India.
