Day 1 Box Office Collection
According to the latest update from Sacnilk, Kesari Chapter 2 has collected a little over ₹7 crore on its first day, marking a solid start for the film.
Storyline of Kesari Chapter 2
Kesari Chapter 2 begins with the tragic events of the Baisakhi Massacre, also known as the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, that took place in 1919. On that fateful day, British troops under General Reginald Dyer (played by Simon Paisley Day) opened fire on a crowd of unarmed civilians gathered in Amritsar, killing hundreds. The gathering wasn’t just for the Baisakhi celebrations—it was also a peaceful protest against the Rowlatt Act, a draconian colonial law that allowed the government to detain individuals without trial.
Following this, the film introduces Akshay Kumar as C. Sankaran Nair—a prominent lawyer who strongly believed in the British legal system. The story evolves into an intense courtroom battle, where Nair challenges the Crown, while R. Madhavan portrays British lawyer Neville MacKinlay, who defends the empire. Ananya Panday plays a significant supporting role in this compelling narrative.
Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, Produced by Karan Johar
Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and produced by Karan Johar, Kesari Chapter 2 brings to light a powerful and lesser-known chapter of India’s freedom struggle, focusing on justice, courage, and the fight against colonial oppression. The film released in theatres nationwide on April 18, 2025.
