Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur has announced the establishment of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in Chandigarh to promote the business of film producers in the Chandigarh region.

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur has announced the establishment of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in Chandigarh to promote the business of film producers in the Chandigarh region.

Anurag Singh Thakur made this announcement at the closing ceremony of the Chitra Bharati Film Festival in Chandigarh. He said that the filmmakers of the region no longer need to go to Delhi or Mumbai to get CBFC, now they can get the facility of screening their films and submitting their cuts/revisions in the region itself. He said that with this step the Punjabi film industry will become even stronger.

Anurag Thakur said that the content of our country is getting praise in foreign countries also.

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur further said, “Today, India is being seen as a content hub and we are becoming the preferred country for both shooting and post-production of international films. “Parallelly, our content is receiving immense appreciation across the world.”

He said that out of the 2500 films made in the world every year, more than half are made on Indian soil. Anurag Thakur further adds, "From feature films to documentaries and short films to serials, Indian cinema today is capturing every color of life on its canvas and making films." Local stories are global. So it doesn't matter in which language the film is being made, as long as the content is interesting, there will always be takers."

Talking about the reason behind setting up CBFC in Chandigarh, he said that the reason behind this is the potential of Punjabi films.

On this occasion, Anurag Thakur talked about the steps taken by the government to support the film community and thanked the organizers of the Chitra Bharti Film Festival.
