Following the controversy, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) directed the Kolkata Knight Riders to release Mustafizur Rahman from their roster. The BCCI stated that the team would be allowed to replace the player.

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia said, "In view of the recent developments, BCCI has directed the KKR franchise to release one of its players, Bangladesh's Mustafizur Rahman, from its squad, and BCCI has also said that if they ask for a replacement, BCCI will allow that replacement."

BJP leader Sangeet Som targeted Shah Rukh Khan

Speaking to news agency ANI, BJP leader Sangeet Som said, " Many thanks to BCCI for taking the decision considering the sentiments of 1 billion Sanatanis of India. We told you yesterday itself that you can be assured that the Government of India and BCCI will take care of this. The sentiments of 1 billion Hindus cannot be played with."

The Bharatiya Janata Party leader further said, "I will say once again that this is a victory for Hindus and Sanatanis across India. Shah Rukh Khan did not understand, but now he understands that messing with Sanatanis and going against them would not be good. He has also understood that crores of people in the country have made him Shah Rukh Khan."

Demands arose to ban Bangladeshi players (Mustafizur Rahman IPL 2026) from the IPL. The controversy escalated further when Devkinandan Thakur called Shah Rukh Khan anti-India and anti-Hindu. BJP leader Sangeet Som called him a traitor.

On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan will be seen in the film "King" after "Dunky." The makers of the film released the much-awaited first look of the film on his birthday last month. Produced in association with Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures, "King" is directed by Siddharth Anand and is scheduled for release in 2026.
