Namrata Shirodkar was born into a Maharashtrian family with roots in Goa. She is the elder sister of renowned actress Shilpa Shirodkar. Her grandmother, Meenakshi Shirodkar, was also a well-known actress in Marathi cinema, having starred in the 1938 film Brahmachari. Acting career

As a child artist, Namrata played a small role in the 1977 film Shirdi Ke Sai Baba. However, her debut as a lead actress was in Mere Do Anmol Ratan. She subsequently performed in films such as Vaastav, Kachche Dhaage (1999), and Pukar (2000). For her performance in Pukar, she was nominated for the IIFA Best Supporting Actress Award. She also appeared in films such as Astitva (2000), Dil Vil Pyar Vyaar (2002), LOC Kargil (2003), and the British film Bride and Prejudice (2004). Notably, Bride and Prejudice was a huge success in the UK.

Personal life and marriage

Namrata Shirodkar's personal life has also been much talked about. In 2000, during the filming of the film "Vamshi," she met Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu. They developed a friendship that gradually blossomed into love. After dating for nearly five years, they married on February 10, 2005, in Mumbai. After marriage, Namrata stepped away from films and began focusing more on her family. Today, she lives in Hyderabad with her husband, Mahesh Babu, and their two children: a son and a daughter.
