Nayanthara Documentary: Court Slaps ₹5 Crore Notice Over Chandramukhi Scene Usage

Nayanthara Documentary:South superstar and actress Nayanthara, famous for her beauty and acting across the country, is once again surrounded by controversies. This time, the matter is not related to her personal matter but to a Netflix documentary. In this documentary named 'Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale', pictures and footage from the famous film 'Chandramukhi' have been used, which has now got into legal trouble.

Madras High Court sent a notice

In this case, the Madras High Court has issued a notice to the producers of Nayanthara's documentary. On July 8, 2025, the court clarified that using the pictures and videos of the film 'Chandramukhi' without permission is a violation of copyright. The court has sent a notice to the makers of the documentary, Torque Studios LLP and NA Entertainment Services India LLP, seeking a reply.

What is the whole matter?

Actually, 'Chandramukhi' (2005) was a blockbuster Tamil film in which Nayanthara was also in an important role along with Rajinikanth and Jyothika. This film is considered one of the biggest hits of Tamil cinema. Now, some scenes and pictures of this film were included in Nayanthara's biographical documentary, to which the producer AP International objected. They claim that this footage was used in the documentary without any permission.

Rs 5 crore fine

The petition filed by AP International states that the scenes of 'Chandrmukhi' are their intellectual property, and it is illegal to include them without permission. The petition also demands that all related photos and videos be removed from the documentary, and the production company should also pay a compensation of Rs 5 crore.

'Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale' was released on Netflix in 2024. This documentary shows Nayanthara's professional life as well as her personal life, struggle, film career, and relationship with her husband Vignesh Shivan. Fans liked this documentary a lot, but now this controversy can create problems for it.
