She said, "Vishal Bhardwaj is a renowned director, and Shahid Kapoor is a good actor, and we have no issues with anyone. We want to see the film  'O Romeo' before its release so we can give it the green light. We also want the makers to acknowledge that our family has not threatened them. We will fight for the rest in court."

Hussain Ustara's daughter, Sanobar Sheikh, also objected to the film's alleged portrayal of her father's relationship with Sapna Didi. She said the two had a brother-sister relationship, which she believes has been portrayed incorrectly. She said, "She was like my father's sister, but in the film, they're portraying a romantic angle, which is completely wrong. We're demanding a pre-screening of the film so we can understand what it's all about. If they're adapting my father's story, they should keep it authentic. We're prepared to fight the case to the end."
