Pakistani Reaction on Operation Sindoor: On 22 April, 26 innocent people lost their lives in a heinous terror attack in Pahalgam, South Kashmir. Most of the victims were tourists, who were asked about their religion before being shot. Today on 7 May, the Indian armed forces responded to the Pahalgam terror attack by carrying out surgical strikes on nine terror camps, four in Pakistan and five in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK). While on one hand, this attack named 'Operation Sindoor' has been praised by Indians and global citizens, on the other hand, stars of Pakistan's entertainment industry have strongly opposed 'Operation Sindoor'.
Mahira Khan criticized Operation Sindoor
Prominent personalities of Pakistan's entertainment industry have strongly opposed the recent air strikes carried out by India on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Popular actress Mahira Khan is among these stars. Mahira Khan re-shared the tweet originally posted by writer Fatima Bhutto criticising the military action. In an emotional message on her Instagram story, Mahira wrote, "Cowardly!!! May Allah protect our country, may better sense prevail. Amen".
Fawad Khan called the mission shameful
Fawad Khan posted a story on Instagram in which he expressed his condolences and wrote, "My deepest condolences to the families of those injured and killed in this shameful attack. I pray for the peace of the departed souls and strength for their loved ones in the days ahead. A respectful request to all: stop fuelling the fire with inflammatory words. It is not worth the lives of innocent people. May better sense prevail. Inshallah. Pakistan Zindabad!"
Hania Aamir condemned Operation Sindoor
Pak actress Hania Aamir gave a brief but precise response on her Instagram story, simply calling the move "cowardly". Her post comes after growing discontent among Pakistani artists after several celebrities' Instagram accounts were geo-blocked in India.
What is Operation Sindoor?
Operation Sindoor is a retaliatory strike by the Indian Army and Air Force in which 9 terror camps were bombed in PoJK and Pakistan. The operation was launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April, which claimed the lives of 26 people, including several tourists from Maharashtra. The Indian Army selected the targets with the intention of eliminating top leadership of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) involved in planning and carrying out terror attacks in India.
