R Madhavan said this about 'Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein'

At the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, R Madhavan opened up about his popular film 'Rehnaa Hai Tere Dil Mein'. Produced by Vashu Bhagnani's Pooja Entertainment, 'Rehnaa Hai Tere Dil Mein' also featured Dia Mirza and Saif Ali Khan. Madhavan and Dia made their Bollywood debut with this film.

R Madhavan spoke about 'Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein'

In fact, during his recent interaction, R Madhavan shared how "heartbroken" he was when the film flopped during its initial release, but said that he is glad that it eventually became a classic. "When it first released, the film did not do well. It was a flop. So I remember I was heartbroken. I went to all the temples and made sure I left no stone unturned to make the film the way I wanted to, but it was heartbreaking. I didn't realise that fate and destiny had written a great story for me. It released (again) after 25 years and it collected more than before. It's amazing to be recognized for doing a film after 25 years," the actor said.

R Madhavan said this about his films

R Madhavan also shared an interesting observation about his films. The actor said, "Whenever I have done romance in a train, the films have done really well. Alai Payuthey, which was my first film with Mani Ratnam, the original film of Saathiya, and from there to Tanu Weds Manu - wherever we have done trains, the film has done well for us".

'Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein' was released in the year 2001

'Rehnaa Hai Tere Dil Mein' was released in 2001. Directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, the romantic drama was a remake of his Tamil film 'Minnale' released in the same year. A few years ago, rumours were rife online that the makers of the film were planning to make a sequel. In 2020, Madhavan denied rumours of a sequel to RHTDM. The songs from the film, including Sach Keh Raha Hai, Dil Ko Tumse and Zara Zara, are still loved by audiences.
