Rajkummar Rao to Play Lawyer Ujjwal Nikam, Biopic Shoot Begins This Month

Ujjwal Nikam Biopic: Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao is constantly busy with his films. Now, the news is coming that the name of actor Rajkumar Rao has been finalized for the biopic of Ujjwal Nikam. Let us tell you that earlier, Aamir Khan was approached for this role.

The shooting of the film will begin this month

In fact, according to Pinkvilla's report, Ujjwal Nikam's biopic will hit the floors in the last quarter of 2025 with a start-to-finish schedule. A source close to the development said, "Preparations for Ujjwal Nikam's biopic are currently underway, and Rajkummar Rao will have to undergo intensive acting workshops to play the role of a real-life lawyer. Many names were considered for the film, but eventually, Avinash felt that no one was as suitable as Rajkummar Rao for it. It is a tribute to one of India's greatest public prosecutors. Avinash Arun, Dinesh Vijan, and Rajkummar Rao are all excited to bring it to the show. The film will recreate some of the biggest court battles on the big screen".

Aamir Khan was going to play the role of Ujjwal Nikam

Who is Ujjwal Nikam?

Ujjwal Devrao Nikam is an Indian Special Public Prosecutor who has worked on major murder and terrorism cases. He has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the President of India to represent the field of law in 2025. He helped prosecute suspects in the 1993 Bombay bombings, the Gulshan Kumar murder case, the Pramod Mahajan murder case, and the 2008 Mumbai attacks. He was also the Special Public Prosecutor in the 2013 Mumbai gang rape case and the 2016 Kopardi rape and murder case. Ujjwal Nikam argued on behalf of the state during the 26/11 Mumbai attack trial. Ujjwal Nikam was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2016.

Rajkumar Rao was seen in the film Malik

Rajkumar Rao's film "Maalik" was released recently. Directed by Pulkit, the film is currently in the post-production stage. It is being produced under the banner of Kumar Taurani, Tips Films and Jay Shewakramani's Northern Lights Films. Rajkumar is seen playing the role of a gangster in the film, the film also stars Medha Shankar and former Miss World Manushi Chillar.
