Renuka Shahane Reacts Strongly to Hindi-Marathi Row: 'I Dislike Those Who...'

Hindi-Marathi Row: The Hindi-Marathi language dispute in Maharashtra does not seem to stop. Now, Renuka Shahane has expressed her opinion on the growing language conflict between Hindi and Marathi in Maharashtra. The veteran actress expressed her strong views on linguistic inclusivity and cultural respect, especially in Mumbai.

Renuka Shahane spoke on the Hindi and Marathi controversy

In fact, Renuka Shahane, while talking about the growing language dispute between Hindi and Marathi, said, "If you are living in a place for a very long time, then it is most important to understand and respect the local language and local culture. It is not just about speaking, but about the desire to respect it. I do not like people who do not feel the need to be sympathetic towards the local language and local culture".

"I don't like violence at all" - Renuka Shahane 

Continuing her point, the actress further said, "I don't like violence at all. I don't like the fact that people can be rude about it. Going to a place where Marathi is not spoken and just slapping two-three people will not help the language in any way."

Recently, Janhvi Kapoor's boyfriend Shikhar Pahadia also argued that any language, including Marathi, should be preserved but it cannot be at the cost of someone else's dignity. "Being from Solapur, I understand this deeply. Language shapes us, it has shaped our states, our stories, given us poets, songs and revolutions. Marathi is no exception. It should be preserved, protected and taken forward like all our languages. But this pride cannot come at the cost of the dignity of others, especially those who are making a living through honest, hard work."

 There is a war going on over language

For your information, let us tell you that a new debate has started in Maharashtra regarding language. If you live in the state, speak Marathi. It all started in April this year when the Maharashtra government decided to make Hindi a compulsory third language in schools. Although this decision was withdrawn, there have been many incidents where alleged MNS workers had a heated argument with those in Mumbai and Pune who refused to speak Marathi.
