Siva Shakti Datta Dies: Lyricist of Baahubali & RRR Passes Away at Age 83

Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravani's father and famous Telugu lyricist and writer Siva Shakti Datta has passed away. The lyricist died on July 7, 2025, at his home in Manikonda. 92-year-old Siva Shakti Datta (Siva Shakti Datta Passed Away) was unwell due to age-related health problems.

Megastar Chiranjeevi paid tribute to Siva Shakti Dutta. He expressed grief in Tamil on his X account and said, "The news that Shri Siva Shakti Dutta, a painter, scholar of Sanskrit language, writer, storyteller and a man of many talents, has attained divine union has come as a deep shock to me. I pray to God that his soul rests in peace... I offer my deepest condolences to my friend Keeravani Garu and his family members".

Shiv Shakti Dutta made a significant contribution to Telugu cinema

Known for his poetic depth and classical style, Shiva Shakti Dutta made lasting contributions to Telugu cinema. He wrote memorable songs for historical films like Baahubali, RRR, Magadheera, Rajanna, and Sri Ramadasu, often working with his son and his brother, director K. Raghavendra Rao. Songs like "Mamthala Thalli," "Ramam Raghavan," and "Nalla Nallani Kalla" reflect his command over the language and his ability to blend mythology with emotions. He also directed the film Chandrahas in 2007.
