Now no fee will be charged for shooting on government land in Maharashtra. The state government has made it clear by issuing an order on 16 March 2024 that free shooting of films, documentaries, and advertisements will be allowed on government land. This is a positive result of the continuous correspondence done by the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPA). The Maharashtra government announced the shooting of films will be free on government land. As per the announcement by the state government, free shooting has been announced in government lands in Maharashtra (except Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari in Mumbai and Film City in Kolhapur). IMPAA President Abhay Sinha welcomed this initiative of the Maharashtra Government and said that streamlining the administrative process for producers, a single window scheme has been launched at Maharashtra Film Theater and Cultural Development Corporation, Goregaon, Mumbai. According to the revised decision, shooting will be free of cost, however, a nominal security deposit of Rs 40,000 for commercials, Rs 1 lakh for TV serials, and Rs 2.5 lakh for films is required. Mr. Sinha said the state government the streamlined approval process and provision of free filming facilities make Maharashtra a more attractive location for filmmakers and IMPA which has been actively advocating measures that support and promote the film industry, is grateful to the Government of Maharashtra for this progressive initiative.
