Vasan Bala worked with actress Alia Bhatt for the first time this year in the jailbreak thriller Jigra. The film was praised by critics, but it was not a box-office success. There was a small controversy at the time of release when Vasan made a statement about producer Karan Johar sending his incomplete script to Alia which was misrepresented. Now, the filmmaker has opened up about his experience working with Alia, insisting that she spoils her directors.
Vasan Bala on working with Alia Bhatt
In an interview, Vasan said, "I think every director I like should get a chance to work with Alia Bhatt. They will get spoiled and then the band will play in their next film," adding, "She has no crew, nothing, she is always prepared. Sometimes, I don't even have to tell her what I want the scene to be like; a gesture from me is enough for her to understand what I want in that shot."
The filmmaker also recalled a day on the sets when he and Alia had a lot of fun and welcomed a more fun atmosphere on an otherwise serious film set. He said, "Usually, sets are fun, but this film lacked humor, so the atmosphere on set was quiet and serious. On this one day, we had a light day, and we were just gossiping and laughing."
