Vicky Kaushal spoke on 'Chhava' controversy
In fact, Vicky Kaushal said in his recent interview, "Not a single day passed when we did not start working on the film without Shivgarjana. The part with Lezim was only for 20-30 seconds. It was not just a part of the story but it was an attempt to take our culture around the world."
Vicky Kaushal said this
The actor further shared, "Sambhaji Maharaj was the king of the people and if someone asked him to play Lezim with them, the king would definitely have done it. But if his followers feel that it was a bit different. It is not important for the story of the film, so we have removed it".
There was a controversy regarding this scene
For your information, let us tell you that there was a demand to remove the scenes of the dance sequence of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Maharani Yesubai in the film Chhava. Maharashtra Minister Uday Samant had earlier expressed disappointment over Vicky Kaushal's film Chhava. He objected to the scene showing Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj dancing and said that it should be removed. Later the producers accepted the request to remove the scene. The film's director Laxman Uttekar met Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Raj Thackeray and assured that all objectionable scenes from the Vicky Kaushal-starrer film would be removed before release.
Film director Laxman Utekar had said this on removing the scene of Chhava
Vicky Kaushal has played the role of the famous Maratha warrior in Chava. Director Laxman Utekar said in a statement, "I have met Raj Thackeray. He is an avid reader and studious person. So I have taken some suggestions and guidance from him. And I can say that his words are very helpful to me and after meeting him, I have decided to remove those scenes where we showed Sambhaji Maharaj doing Lezim dance. Lezim dance is not a big deal. Sambhaji Maharaj is much bigger than that Lezim dance. So we are going to remove those scenes from the film".
