'Dhokha Round the Corner' Hits No. 6 Worldwide, No. 2 in India on Netflix

Director Kookie Gulati hits new heights with "Dhokha Round D Corner and explores the horizon. After the success of "The Big Bull", director Kookie Gulati stepped into a new genre with his film "Dhokha Round D Corner". This psychological thriller features a stellar cast including R Madhavan, Aparshakti Khurana, Darshan Kumar, and newcomer Khushali Kumar. Set in a closed home setting, the film weaves a complex tale full of surprising twists and turns, leaving the audience guessing as to who is the real hero and who is the real heroine in the story. "Dhokha Round the Corner" showcases Gulati's versatility and ability to craft heart-touching stories across genres.

Kookie Gulati's Career: From Music Videos to Film Songs

Kookie Gulati started his career in the early 2000s primarily directing music videos. He was closely associated with Tips Films and was instrumental in launching artists like Jazzy B and Atif Aslam. He has also worked with many major names like Mika Singh, Daler Mehndi, and Stereo Nation. Over the years, Gulati has directed over 300 music videos, including several film songs and promotional trailers.

Director Kookie Gulati shares his experience of working with the cast, he says, “Casting for 'Dhokha' was crucial and very challenging. I needed four people for the film, and if you've seen it, you can't tell who is the hero or the heroine because it keeps changing. There were so many surprises and some special demands for filming it in the home setting. Even if Shahrukh Khan was in the film, I would have shot it at home only.

He further said, "For me there was no need or scope for any change in the story. The script dictated it's needs, not mine. The intention was to make a real and true film in itself. It was during that time that I met Bhushan ji. who liked the story and also the script and his team supported it. We signed the film, but then Covid came, causing chaos. Meanwhile, I got a call from him that Maddy and Khushali were about to do a film which didn't get made, and so he asked if I would like to tell him about the film. I always wanted Maddy to play the husband. I had also approached them in 2017 for 'Dhokha - - -' but could not produce it due to lack of support. But when I heard that Maddie was interested in this project, I was thrilled because he is a superstar. After meeting Khushali, I realized her immense hunger for her part and I wanted a new face to play the heroine so that the mystery remains. The casting seemed phenomenal. Casting Aparshakti was also a real challenge because we had never seen him play a character like Dhokha before."

"Dhokha Round the Corner" achieved impressive success on Netflix, reaching the number 6 position worldwide and the number 2 position in India following its OTT release.

Director Kookie Gulati has an impressive background in the film industry, having worked as an associate director on popular films like Ishq Vishk and Fida. He made his directorial debut with the feature film, 'Prince' starring Vivek Oberoi, and later worked as the creative director for the comedy hit 'Total' Dhamaal. The Big Bull director is currently busy developing his new project and will start shooting soon.
