Actress Hansa Singh, known for her work in Hunterrr, Page 3, Criminal Justice, Goodbye, Money Hai Toh Honey Hai, Flip, and Tom, Dick, and Harry, will next be seen in director Kanu Behl’s Despatch.
Sharing details about her role and look, Hansa says, “It’s an interesting, powerful, and intriguing character. Honestly, I would say this character is how I want to be in real life. So, the moment I got a call for the audition, I thought, ‘I have to get this role.’ When I received the confirmation, I pinched myself—it felt like a dream come true to work with the genius Manoj Bajpayee.”
Hansa further adds, “Working in a film directed by Kanu Behl, with Manoj Bajpayee in the lead, is a huge honor. People often ask about the preparation process for a role, but I must say, you can’t really prepare for a Kanu Behl film. He throws you into the vastness of his creative process to help you discover yourself. He isn’t satisfied until he gets exactly what he has envisioned. It’s tough and challenging to please him as a director, but the experience is creatively rewarding in the end. Every actor, whether new or seasoned, should get the chance to work with him. Truly, you discover a different version of yourself by the time the shoot wraps up.”
Hansa also admits that the process can be stressful at times. She shares, “When you’re working under the guidance of Kanu Behl, it’s always challenging. You begin to doubt yourself—whether you’ll be able to pull it off or not. As Manoj Bajpayee rightly said, Kanu is a mad director. If he says, ‘Get naked for a scene,’ you just do it. He pushes you to confront and break through your fears, parameters, and boundaries. But honestly, it’s fun as an actor to peel off the layers and unveil sides of yourself you’ve never seen before. No matter how frustrated or emotional I may feel during the process, I would definitely work with him again.”
In Despatch, Hansa will be sporting a striking look that combines sarees with pants, reflecting her character’s powerful persona.
On a different note, Hansa, who has been actively working on OTT platforms for some time, feels that binge-watching is deeply ingrained in Indian culture. She says, “Whether it’s food, drinks, or watching OTT content, Indians always binge. With our large population, OTT platforms have quickly found their place. I think we were introduced to shows like Game of Thrones in 2017, and that’s when people became more receptive to uncensored and realistic content—delivered right into the palm of their hands.”
