Legal Action: 'Aakhri Sach' Producers Sue Nikhil Nanda Over Finances

The thriller series ‘Aakhri Sach’ is one of the most popular web series of the year. The series also marked the debut in web-series production for Preeti Simoes and Neeti Simoes. The producer duo has filed a case against the other producer of the series, Nikhil Nanda for not sharing details of the show’s accounts and expenditures and several team members have filed a case against him for non-payment of dues. 

Producers Simoes File Case Against Nikhil Nanda Over 'Aakhri Sach'

The highly experienced producer duo, Preeti Simoes and Neeti Simoes, had collaborated with Nikhil Nanda, to be an investor on the show. To both of them, it looked like a good collaboration, and despite Nanda having no experience in the entertainment industry, they went ahead, as they felt with their experience and his knowledge of Delhi, it would work well as they wanted to shoot in real locations in Delhi for the show.

As the show progressed, Preeti Simoes and Neeti Simoes began getting emails from vendors stating that they were not paid. Nikhil had taken control of the accounts, and when the producer duo asked him about the accounts and unpaid vendors, he would brush it off on some pretext or the other

Preeti Simoes says "It is unfortunate that we gave someone a chance to enter our industry and he is not only not paying us and the team our money after delivering a successful show, but also putting false allegations on every team member just to escape making the payments"

Serial Defaulter: Producers Allege Nikhil Nanda's Threats and Misuse

"He first used to beg, then threaten us to make our celebrity contacts mention his name, but we found that funny initially. Not anymore. He is a serial defaulter, we took him on board with a background check that his wife is a Govt employee In Delhi at a good position but he has been misusing her name too, to threaten us and the team."

RP Singh, A well-known Line producer from Delhi who is also fighting a case of nonpayment from Nanda in Delhi High Court says " I used my funds to ensure the shoot of Aakhri sach was completed even though Nandas team never paid me on time. Post the shoot, he started avoiding my calls for payment and filed false allegations against me in several criminal cases just to escape paying me my rightful dues. more my work has not been credited in the web series which is what the film fraternity uses as an indication for proof of work."

Rahul Jha, the Post Production head of Aakhri Sach is also harassed by false allegations by Nanda. "We worked day and night to ensure timely delivery of the show, We all were happy that the show became a huge success, and all was well until I started following up for my dues. Nanda filed a false complaint against me of hard disks which is Hotstar property, not his. We just want our money, and an end to his false allegations against us"

Nikhil Nanda Faces Accusations of Harassment and Non-Payment from 'Aakhri Sach' Team

Sunil Shirodhkar, the Production head of the series also has the same complaint. "My team and I ensured a smooth and timely production saving the producers a good margin. Shockingly, Nanda made a false allegation about me just at the time I started asking for my dues. I have set up shows for many first-time producers, but this behavior of harassing the team when they ask for their dues is unacceptable "

Despite being a civil case that is already in arbitration Nanda still managed to file a criminal FIR, a move he would constantly threaten them with stating he would use his powerful contacts to harass them and it appears that Nanda chose to file an FIR in response to theirs to gain publicity.

In Nikhil Nanda’s FIR, he made three claims against Preeti Simoes and Neeti Simoes, all of which are baseless. He first claims that they manipulated the series' credits and credit was not given to him for the show. In actuality, his name is mentioned as a producer at the start of the show. The platform gives the credits and he was already given credits as a producer and actor of the show.

His next claim is that he did not receive any hard drive of the show, but neither did Preeti Simoes nor Neeti Simoes as only the platform (Hotstar) has rights to it. There is nothing that even Preeti Simoes and Neeti Simoes can do to get the hard drive. Nanda’s third claim is that Preeti Simoes and Neeti Simoes have robbed him of money whereas the producer duo already filed their case against him a month before, and they stated that he had not shown them any accounts of the show’s expenditure. Preeti Simoes and Neeti Simoes do not know the show’s expenditures because he never informed them of any nor allowed them to see for themselves.

Preeti Simoes, Neeti Simoes, and other affected team members of ‘Aakhri Sach’ are choosing not to back out of the matter and not be intimidated in any way. They have faith that justice will be served.
