Netflix OTT bought the rights to Prabhash starrer film ‘Salaar’

The Telugu action film ‘Salaar: Part 1 Ceasefire’ is now in theatres. On the first day of this film directed by Prashant Neel, enthusiastic fans were standing in queues outside the theaters to watch the film. Looking at the response, it can be said that ‘Salaar’ is expected to register an opening day collection of around Rs 48 crore. As the film is making a strong entry at the box office, reports are being circulated suggesting an update regarding the OTT release of the film. According to reports, ‘Salaar's’ digital debut will be on OTT giant Netflix. The OTT release date has not been announced yet by the makers of the film. Netflix is the streaming partner of ‘Salaar’ for all languages. Reportedly it will stream on the OTT platform after eight weeks. Additionally, as far as the satellite partner of the film is concerned, it will be telecasted on Star Maa television.

Bought at a record-breaking price

Earlier, it was reported that the OTT rights of the film have been sold to the streaming platform at a record-breaking price. The producers sold their rights for Rs 162 crore. With this development, Salaar wins the largest-ever deal for a South Indian project.

A fantasy world film

‘Salaar’ is based in a fantasy world and explores the relationship between two best friends, Deva and Vardha, played by Prabhash and Prithviraj Sukumaran respectively. Unexpected events turn best friends into enemies. Apart from Prithviraj Sukumaran and Prabhash, the film also stars Shruti Haasan, Easwari Rao, Jagapati Babu, and Shriya Reddy.

Released in various languages

Produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner of Hombale Films, the film will mark the first collaboration between director Prashanth Neel and pan-India star Prabhash. It has been released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Notably, the runtime for the film has been confirmed to be 2 hours and 55 minutes and it has been given an A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CFBC). Apart from this, the Telugu government also approved permission to organize special shows for the film in the state, while also increasing the ticket prices by Rs 65 and Rs 100 respectively.
