Actress Alia Bhatt is now coming up with a web series ‘Poacher’ as an executive producer, which has been appreciated at the Sundance International Film Festival in 2023. The web series ‘Poacher’ is to be streamed on 'Amazon Prime' from February 23. An engrossing investigative crime series that uncovers the largest ivory poaching ring in Indian history. The eight-episode series stars talented actors like Nimisha Sajayan, Roshan Mathew, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya in lead roles. Poacher was produced by Oscar the winner is produced by production company QC Entertainment. It is written and directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Richie Mehta. Its trailer was launched at the five-star hotel Grand Hyatt in Mumbai.

The trailer shows a glimpse of the series

The trailer provides a glimpse into the heart-wrenching reality of the brutal and ongoing killing of elephants for smuggling of elephant tusks. It follows a diverse group of wildlife protectors including forest crime fighters, police personnel, and good philanthropists in their relentless quest to expose the largest ivory poaching gang in Indian history. But will the helpless elephants, the silent victims of these criminal acts, get the justice they truly deserve? This question resonates deeply at the core of this thought-provoking crime series. Based on true events, Poacher skillfully highlights the consequences of human actions driven by personal gain and greed and draws attention to the potential risks they pose and endanger these species. But Alia Bhatt was not seen in the Trailer.

Actress Nimisha Sajayan, who plays the role of a determined forest department officer Mala Jogi in the series, said, “Being a part of Poacher was a transformative experience for me. My character is very complex and has a lot of nuances in it. She is a strong-willed forest officer with a love and deep empathy for wildlife.”

Actor Roshan Mathew, who plays Alan Joseph, an NGO worker in the series, said: “She is driven to bring poachers to justice, and goes beyond the call of duty to unearth the deep and wide network of ivory smuggling. The series will force viewers to consider the irreversible impact of humans' actions on animals and the environment. This is a story that deserves to be told, and I'm grateful to be part of a candid project that highlights such an important issue. I am glad to be a part of Poacher, which sensitively addresses the serious issue of hunting animals for personal gain. “This series explores the world of crime, corruption, and cover-ups related to ivory poaching, which was exciting creatively and conceptually.”

Actor Dibyendu Bhattacharya, who plays the role of Neil Banerjee, field director of the Kerala Forest Department, said, “During my acting career, I have done many projects, played different roles, and loved each one, but my favorite for Poacher Has a special place in the repertoire and heart. From the moment I read the script, it captivated me and made me want to be a part of the story. This story shocks your conscience and makes you experience many emotions like anger, rage, sadness, helplessness, and hope. It is important to tell such stories to leave a deep impact on the society.
