The web series Four More Shots Please, which tells the story of four women and highlights the importance of friendship, relationships, and love, is streaming its fourth and final season from December 19. When its first season premiered in 2019, it became one of Prime Video’s most popular and talked-about series. However, the fourth and final season turns out to be the most disappointing. It feels like old wine poured into a new bottle. Instead of focusing on storytelling, the series once again relies heavily on bold scenes—serving explicit sex and repeatedly flaunting homosexuality.

Story

The story once again revolves around the four main characters— Damini Rizvi Roy (Sayani Gupta), Anjana Menon (Kirti Kulhari), Siddhi Patel (Maanvi Gagroo), and Umang Singh (Bani J). All four are seen smiling, working, and seemingly “handling everything” in their everyday lives, while quietly carrying emotional baggage.

This season begins with Siddhi Patel’s wedding. Siddhi marries her long-time partner Mihir (Rajeev Siddhartha). Anjana is happily divorced, living with her daughter, and is now a successful lawyer. Damini has become a prominent journalist and public figure and has even started her own podcast. Umang (popularly called Mangs) has become a successful gym trainer, and her brand “Umami” is quite popular.

The story picks up from where the third season ended. By this point, all four women appear to be living their lives well—but problems still exist. Just before the wedding, Siddhi has second thoughts, but eventually goes ahead and marries Mihir. Anjana finds love again in Rohan (Dino Morea) and wants to start a new life with him, but by the end of the season, it is revealed that she plans to travel the world on a bike. Damini’s career is on track, her brother Ashok Aditya (Kunal Roy Kapur) has returned, yet she is still unable to move on from Jeh (Prateik Babbar). Umang is successful in her career but is still searching for a life partner, even trying dating apps. As always, whenever one character faces trouble, the other three are quick to come to her rescue.

Review

The original energy of the series is completely missing this season. This is the result of weaknesses in both writing and direction. Since this is the final season, the climax should have been powerful, but unfortunately, it feels dry and disappointing. The story unfolds in a very predictable manner. It largely revolves around Siddhi, and while her arc is given closure, the series lacks depth, genuine emotional impact, and satisfactory growth for all characters—despite a few strong performances and visual appeal.

Although new characters played by Kunal Roy Kapur, Dino Morea, and Anusuya Sengupta are introduced, the writers fail to develop them properly. The narrative suffers from repetition and overly convenient resolutions, reducing emotional impact. The writers focus excessively on Siddhi’s wedding and her stand-up career, forgetting that characters like Damini and Anjana also deserve equal attention. The addition of three new characters further muddies the storytelling. This season, women empowerment feels more like a façade. The writers focus largely on showcasing homosexual relationships and explicit sexual content. In the name of boldness, intimate scenes, profanity, and adult conversations are forcibly inserted, unnecessarily stretching the runtime.

The relationship between Damini and her brother Ashok Aditya is also not explored in the right proportion. There was immense potential to create compelling drama around sibling bonds, but weak writing prevents that. As a result, the climax feels imposed rather than meaningful. Several scenes could have been trimmed at the editing table. The only real praise the series deserves is for celebrating female friendship.

On deeper reflection, the series does attempt to convey a positive message—that it’s never too late to chase unfinished dreams or confront unresolved questions and old wounds—but this message remains superficial. Moreover, the ending lacks proper closure.

As directors, Arunima Sharma and Neha Matiyani fail to deliver anything remarkable this time. There is no attempt to delve deeper into the characters’ lives, and the story lacks freshness.

The drone shots of Goa, Bangkok, and Mumbai are visually appealing, and the cinematographer deserves appreciation for that.

Acting

In terms of performances, Kirti Kulhari, Sayani Gupta, Maanvi Gagroo, and Bani J deliver strong performances. Kirti Kulhari looks the hottest and most glamorous—perhaps because most of the bold and intimate scenes are assigned to her. Kunal Roy Kapur leaves a strong impression in his brief role as Ashok Aditya, a character who balances humor with seriousness. His comic timing is excellent, and at times, just his expressions convey the emotion of a scene. Dino Morea looks handsome. However, the characters played by Prateik Babbar and Anusuya Sengupta are poorly written and fail to make an impact.
