Story
6000 years after the Mahabharata war, the world ends up under the rule of Yaskin (Kamal Haasan) and people in Kasi, the last city in the world, suffer. Bhairav (Prabhas) is a bounty hunter from Kasi who dreams of moving to the 'Complex', a real city built for the privileged that runs under the control of Yaskin. Ashwathama (Amitabh Bachchan) from Mahabharata is waiting to fulfill his responsibility and finally, that day will come. At the same time, the mysterious Ashwathama (Amitabh Bachchan) emerges with a mission to save Sumati (Deepika Padukone) from the clutches of Yaskin. Bhairav clashes with Ashwathama due to the bounty on Sumati and a fierce conflict ensues. Will Bhairav succeed in handing over Sumati to the Complex? What motivates Ashwathama to protect her? What is the relationship between Ashwathama and Bhairav? And what drastic step will Yaskin take next? To know the answers to all these questions, you will have to go to the theatres.
Acting
Prabhas is back to his comedy timing in Kalki 2898 AD. As always, the big man rocks the action episodes. Prabhas got limited screen space in the first part, but Prabhas gave his best performance as Bhairava in Kalki. Prabhas' scenes with his digital companion Bujji (voiced by Keerthy Suresh) are hilarious. The futuristic car, which is an integral part of the narrative, dazzles during the film's monumental scenes.
Amitabh Bachchan fits the role of Ashwatthama
Amitabh Bachchan fits the role of Ashwatthama the best and has played himself very well in this responsible role. Sumati (SUM-80) i.e. Deepika Padukone is the center of the whole story and she has really given a great performance. She acted brilliantly in the scenes with Ashwatthama. Shobhana got an important role and she acted well.
Kamal Haasan completely molded himself into the role of the villain
Kamal Haasan, who is a legend himself, is seen in the role of the villain Supreme Yaskin, who captivates people with his intense dialogues. There is an intimidating depth in his voice. Kamal Haasan is unrecognizable, he has completely adapted himself to the role of the villain with his acting. While Dulquer Salmaan, Vijay Deverakonda, Rajendra Prasad, Brahmanandam and others played their roles. Disha Patani appeared in a brief role and a song.
Direction
Nag Ashwin, the maker of the National Award-winning film Mahanati, is back with Kalki 2898 AD after 6 years. Nag Ashwin has done a great job as both writer and director, however, the screenplay in the first half could have been tighter to match the thrilling climax. While the second half of the film is engaging, the slow first half of the film can be challenging. Santhosh Narayanan has given excellent music, although his songs may take time to become popular among the listeners. The production values of Vaijayanti Movies are excellent.
