Story:

Directed by renowned filmmaker Chandrakant Kulkarni, 'Tukaram' takes you through the journey of Tukaram Bolhoba Ambile becoming 'Sant Tukaram'. Ever since its announcement, the film has been compared to Prabhat banner's 'Sant Tukaram' and there have been debates on whether the film will be able to match the 1936 classic version.

The film tells how a simple man Tukaram becomes a 'saint' with his simple life and firm belief in 'Lord Vitthal'. It was a big task for screenwriters Ajit and Prashant Dalvi to adapt this film for the big screen. Tukaram's elder brother Savji, younger brother Kanha, Tukaram's two wives Rakhma and Aavali, all the characters have their own identity, credit for which goes to the screenwriters! Short and simple dialogues make the film even more realistic. Tukaram explains the philosophy of life in simple words, which can be seen in various scenes of the film. The actors of the film praise these simple dialogues.

Amid the storm of language controversy the film on famous Marathi poet Sant Tukaram is released in Hindi (1)

The lead character 'Tukaram' played by Jitendra Joshi needs a special mention. It would be unfair to compare Jitendra with Vishnupant Pagnis, who played 'Tukaram' in the earlier classic film of 1936. 'Tukaram' played by Jitendra is a vision of the director. The other actors have also played their roles well. The background score by Mangesh Dhakade saves the film from being too noisy. The total duration of the film is 2 hours and 30 minutes due to concise and efficient editing, which makes it worth watching!
