Kajol’s uncle, filmmaker Rono Mukherjee, died on 28 May 2025, leaving the family grief-stricken. He was known for directing Haiwan (1977). Cousins Ayan Mukerji and Tanisha Mukerji attended his funeral in Mumbai. The Mukherjee family has suffered two major losses in 2025.
