Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2: Popular producer Ekta Kapoor has given many successful shows in her career, including 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi'. Now, Ekta Kapoor has decided to restart her most popular show 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' after 25 years. Meanwhile, Ekta Kapoor has shared a long note on social media. In this note, the producer explained why she decided to restart 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' after 25 years.
Because of this, Ekta Kapoor decided to remake the show.
Let us tell you that Ekta Kapoor shared a long post on her Instagram handle on July 10, 2025. In this post, she explained why she decided to restart "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi". The director-producer wrote in the post, "When 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' completed 25 years and talks of telecasting it again on TV started coming up, my first reaction was "No! Absolutely not!" Why would I want to stir up that old memory?"
Continuing her talk, Ekta Kapoor said, "Those who understand nostalgia know that nostalgia can never be conquered. It has always been and will always be the dominant memory. There is and will always be a difference between how we remember our childhood and how it actually was. The TV scenario has changed a lot now. There was a time when our viewership was divided in just 9 cities. And today that same number is divided into many different pieces, spread across different platforms."
"Will it be able to live up to the legacy of 'Kyunki'? The historic TRPs that no other serial has ever achieved. But was TRP the real legacy of the show? Was it just a game of numbers? Research conducted by an international organisation revealed that the show gave a voice to women in Indian households. Between 2000 and 2005, for the first time, women began to participate in household conversations, a change that was directly inspired by Indian television and especially Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii."
Kyunki became a global ambassador that took India's storytelling tradition across the world. It wasn't just a daily soap. It made issues like domestic abuse, marital rape, age shaming and euthanasia a topic of discussion on Indian dining tables and that was the real legacy of this story. In conversations with my colleagues, it came across that the show's abrupt end left a feeling of incompleteness. So when Kevin Vaz, his team, the channel heads, and the entire Balaji team sat down and brainstormed, I asked myself. Can we break away from today's storytelling formats and tell stories that once focused the audience's attention on the problems that TV did?
Can we bring back that era of television?
Can we go beyond the TRP race and create powerful stories again? Can we reach out to those millions of viewers and change their thinking and perspective again? Can we talk about parenting? Can we talk about the balance between care and control?
Can we talk about issues that today's society shies away from?
Can we use India's biggest and most profound medium, television, to once again tell a story that touches the heart and stirs people's conscience? One that impacts people but also entertains. Can we bring back the times when the whole family used to sit at the dinner table and talk? As soon as I asked myself this question, the answer came to me smilingly.
Ekta Kapoor further added, “Let’s do this. Let’s make a show that raises important questions, starts conversations, and makes its mark in an era full of visual spectacle. Kyunki is back, with a limited run of episodes. To celebrate 25 years, to move, entertain, change perceptions, and most importantly, leave an impact. With lots of emotion, passion, and stories that touch the heart. This is for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, and for everything that the show has stood for. Giving a voice to others, being a hope for change, and holding on to our history, especially keeping in mind what it means to us. Not at all to preach, but to establish belonging and inclusivity. Hats off to Kyunki, hats off to the spirit of storytelling, hats off not to the past, but to the new journey that begins now. We can never win against nostalgia. But the fight is not about winning; the fight is about leaving an impact. I have to go. For this show, which is not just ours, it is yours too".
The show will start on July 29
