'Lakshmi Niwas’ First Episode: From a Rented Roof to the Dream of a Home Called Their Own

Zee TV once again presents an emotionally rich narrative with ‘Lakshmi Niwas’, a show that reflects the reality of India’s middle-class families—where dreams grow slowly and responsibilities increase silently. The series tells the story of millions of families whose greatest desire begins with owning a home they can proudly call their own. Produced by Rashmi Sharma Telefilms, the show is set to air soon on television. Recently, the show was launched in a grand event attended by the cast, including Mansi Joshi Roy, Rajendra Chawla, popular actor Gashmeer Mahajani, Akshita Mudgal, Mansi Srivastava, Sulakshana Khatri, and several other artists, all of whom spoke about their characters.

35 Years of Waiting and an Unfulfilled Dream

The story of ‘Lakshmi Niwas’ revolves around Lakshmi (Mansi Joshi Roy) and Srinivas (Rajendra Chawla). The couple has spent 35 years of their lives in a rented house, yet they still nurture two heartfelt dreams—owning a home of their own and securing their daughters’ future. Srinivas is an honest, responsible, and simple man who devoted his entire life to his family. In fulfilling his children’s education, their marriages, and every small and big wish of his wife Lakshmi, his own dream was always pushed aside. Now, as retirement approaches, that long-buried dream has once again become the biggest hope of his life.

During the launch event held in Mumbai, Srinivas’s emotional words touched everyone present. He said that a home is not just four walls, but a feeling—one where all exhaustion melts away the moment you enter. However, the house they live in is rented—the keys may be theirs, but the walls belong to someone else. There is no freedom to make changes, not even to hammer a single nail at will. This unspoken pain only deepens the longing for a home of their own.

At the event, actor Rajendra Chawla, who plays Srinivas, promised that the dream he shares with Lakshmi will surely be fulfilled, no matter how long it takes. His dream is of a home whose name brings tears of joy to the eyes—‘Lakshmi Niwas’.
Through Lakshmi’s character, it becomes clear that this dream is not limited to four walls, but also represents a secure future for their daughters. She believes that one day her daughters will learn to walk in the same courtyard and leave their own identity on those very walls.
