On the hot seat in Amitabh Bachchan’s show, Gurdas Maan sat on one side while Shankar Mahadevan sat on the other. During the show, both shared many interesting anecdotes with Big B and the audience. One of the most fascinating moments was when Gurdas Maan revealed that while many people write songs about things like hair, eyes, elegance, simplicity, and charm, he had written and sung a song about something quite unusual – a bicycle.

He then went on to perform this unique song on the show. The lyrics are as follows:

Aah ni kudiye jeon jogiye -2
rabb de wekh najare,
na sade kol motorcycle
na koi motor car ae
ik tutteya jeha cycle sada
har wele dang sare

duniya de vich pairon nange
lakhaan firan vichare
mai ta fir v cycle te haan
satgur de bilhaarey
ni rabb di marzi da
koi ki karlu mutiyaare...

Gurdas Maan shared that this song is deeply connected to a personal story from his life. He recalled an incident when his cycle was stolen, and during that time, he encountered a beggar. This moment sparked the inspiration for the song, which beautifully describes how a simple cycle became a symbol of freedom and strength in his life.

In the song, Gurdas Maan talks not just about the qualities of a bicycle, but also how many people walk barefoot. For them, riding a cycle is akin to a great victory, while society often associates a cycle with poverty. Through his words, he reflects on the value of simple things in life and how they can hold great significance, even though they may be overlooked by others.

As for Gurdas Maan’s fame, he is a monumental name in the music industry. Having ruled the Punjabi music scene for years, he has earned recognition not just in Punjabi, but also in Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Haryanvi, and Rajasthani. Apart from his singing, Gurdas Maan is also an actor and has appeared in Punjabi, Hindi, and Tamil films. Notably, he played a special role in the Bollywood film Veer-Zaara, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta.

Some of his popular songs include Dil Da Mamla Hai, Peer Tere Jaan Di, Chala, Hasdi De Dand Ginda, Nach Ni, and Kithe Dhol Vajda. Gurdas Maan is the only Punjabi singer to have won the prestigious National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer at the 54th National Film Awards.
