It is not only poets, philosophers and pundits can come up with great thoughts and meaningful lines with words that have depth and the power to shake up the minds , hearts and the conscience of people .

Sometimes even the most hardened business man whose only goal in life is to make more and more money and live a comfortable or luxurious life can come up with a thought or several thoughts at the same time and what he thinks and says can make the most learned and experienced poets and thinkers sit up and think a thousand times about what the man says and why he says what he says .

I was talking to the very experienced filmmaker and distributor Pahlaj Nihalani some days ago .

We were talking about how to bring back the industry to the state in which it was to a time when we can build up the industry again .

He had several interesting and practical suggestions about which I have written and my editor , Me P K Bajaj has written an editorial about in the last issue of the digital version of Mayapuri .

But , it is what Pahlaj said randomly when he called me to thank me for writing about him and his suggestions that he came up with a few lines off hand which made both of us wonder how those lines came to him so very naturally.

Was it his experience that inspired him ? Or was it his concern and care for the industry to which he has given 50 of the best years of his life that encouraged him to come up with a truth that others are shy or scared about talking ?

Pahlaj was talking about the time when the industry was in a state of growing and flourishing .

He talked about times when everyone worked like one family and how the family worked to build a better and healthy family where there was no bitterness , no negative rivalry and certainly no hatred for the other man ( or woman) .

He was concerned about how that same industry was struggling to find ways of surviving and fighting a tough battle to wipe out all the negativity that was slowly but surely growing into a trend , a cult and may if not stopped soon would even grow into a new religion, the religion of negativity.

But it is what Pahlaj said about the competitive and how the industry took steps to make every competition healthy for one and all that was worth listening to in these times when talking about disaster and doomsday was becoming the in thing .

And then came the masterstroke when the man who has made 26 films and launched several new stars said , " "uss zamaane mein ek spot boy bhi producer ban sakta tha aur industry uski dil se madat kerti thi.

Aur aaj aisa mahol bana huwa hai ki producer na sirf spot boy banne ko tayaar ya majboor hai , balki gaadi dhone ke liye bhi tayaar hai.

Iss tarah ki industry kab tak chal sakti hai ? Ye sawaal main mere industry ke dosto se aur hamaare sarkaaro se pooch tha hoon"
