Ramleela Artists Eagerly Await Invitation at Ayodhya's Janmabhoomi

Times change and beliefs change. From the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya till the consecration of life, the artists who used to proudly say that they were the characters of the vibrant Ramleela, are today trying to get an invitation for the consecration of Lord Ram and they are not able to become participants of this great festival. A Ramleela theater artist said that people from faraway places and big artists are coming here, but those Ramleela artists who used to do Ramleela every year on the banks of Saryu in Ayodhya, in Laxman Park, or nearby are struggling to get the invitation. No one is even asking them.

The viewers of Ramleela are huge

Let us tell you that Ramleela of Ayodhya held on the occasion of Dussehra is famous all over the world. This Leela is staged by the artists of the film world, TV world, and stage and is also telecasted live by Doordarshan on TV. This Ramleela did not stop even during the Corona period. In its virtual broadcast, 16 lakh to 50 lakh viewers have been watching Ramleela every year.

Who will be invited to the Ram Mandir Consecration?

Not only do local actors participate in Ayodhya's Ramleela, but actors from Bollywood and the TV industry also play different characters in Ramayana. Among Bollywood artists, artists like Manoj Tiwari, Raza Murad, Shahbaz Khan, Asrani, Ravi Kishan, Bindu Dara Singh, Malini Awasthi, Avtar Gill, Sheeba, Amit Nangia, Rakesh Bedi, and Bhagyashree have participated in Ayodhya's Saryu Ramleela. These stars cut down their busy schedules and came to participate in the grand set of Ramleela at Lakshman Qila Maidan on the banks of the river as per schedule. These days this area has become 'Ram Mandir Punya Kshetra'. Due to security reasons, even birds cannot enter here without permission on the day of Ram Lalla's consecration. They also have to remain confined in their nest from the 20th to the 22nd of January. Manoj Tiwari and Ravi Kishan are MPs of the Bharatiya Janata Party, they will remain on this list of Ramleela stars. Malini Awasthi and Bhagyashree are in discussion to get the pass.

People from Bollywood also played characters in Ayodhya’s Saryu Ramleela

Ram devotee stars from Bollywood (Mumbai) go to Ayodhya and the audience likes them by becoming the characters of Ramayana. These stars are also happy thinking about their roles these days since the talk of Ram Mandir Pran Pratistha has started. The characters in Ramleela 2021 were - Shakti Kapoor (Ahiravan), Manoj Tiwari (Angad), Raja Murad (Kumbh Karan), Bindu Dara Singh (Hanuman), Shahbaz Khan (Raavan), Asrani (Narada), Avtar Gill, (Janak), Ravi Kishan (Parasuram), Sheeba (Mandodari), Amit Nangia (Kaikayee), Rakesh Bedi (Bali), Avtar Gill (Vibhishan), Bhagyashree (Sita), Rahul Butcher (Ram). Although the roles and staging space of these artists changed in the years 2022 and 2023 depending on the availability, these people feel proud to call themselves the artists of Ramleela.

The artists who climbed the stage after remembering the idol of Ramlala feel bad not being invited to the consecration ceremony of the Lord but are also happy that a temple of their deity has been placed in his right place so they will be able to go later also.
