His film 'Phool Aur Patthar' with Meena Kumari, which was his first action film and became a huge hit, this film brought him among the A-list actors. Dharmendra played the role of a romantic hero in films like 'Aayi Milan Ki Bela', 'Aaya Sawan Jhoom Ke', and 'Mere Humdum Mere Dost'.

This successful pair has worked in films like 'Raja Jaani', 'Sita Aur Geeta', 'Sharafat', 'Naya Zamana', 'Patthar Aur Payal', 'Tum Haseen Main Jawaan', 'Blackmail', 'Dost', 'Charas', 'Maa', 'Chacha Bhatija', 'Azad' and 'Sholay'. Along with acting, he has also done film production, having produced the debut films of both his sons, Sunny Deol in 'Betaab' (1983) and Bobby Deol in 'Barsaat' (1995), as well as from the film 'Socha Na Tha' (2005) he also launched his nephew Abhay Deol.

What is the story of Dharmendra's personal life?

At the age of just 19, he was married to Prakash Kaur, with whom he has two sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, and two daughters, Vijeta and Ajeeta. Later, when Hema Malini and Dharmendra's love blossomed, he married Hema. It is believed that Hema Malini and Dharmendra had converted to Islam to get married because Dharmendra's first wife was not ready to divorce and in Hindu society, you cannot have two wives. In 2011, he worked with his sons in the film 'Yamla Pagla Deewana', which was released on 14 January 2011. The film's second sequel, ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’, was released in 2013, and the same film's third sequel, ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 3’, was released in 2018, once again he was seen with his sons. Apart from this, he has worked in many other films. In the second inning, not only films, but Dharam ji also worked in TV, from becoming the judge on the show 'India's Got Talent' to the recently released web series 'Taj: Divided by Blood'. Has been honored with the 'Living Legend Award'

The actor who is also known as the most handsome actor of his time has been honored with many awards, in the year 1990 he was awarded the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment award for the film 'Ghayal'. The Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) honored him with the 'Living Legend Award' for his outstanding contribution to cinema. He has also been given the Life Time Achievement Award in many events. In 2012, Dharam Ji was also awarded Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian award, by the Government of India.
