He isn’t hiding anything, not even his OTT release plans. Recently, Aamir revealed that he will decide on the digital streaming of Sitaare Zameen Par two months after its theatrical release. Meanwhile, reports suggest that he has turned down a ₹120 crore offer from Amazon Prime Video for the OTT rights of the film.

The film business, like a deck of cards, is full of unpredictability — and a bad run in theatres can drastically reduce OTT value. Aamir, however, is full of conviction. He believes his film will do well — and perhaps very well. With the theatrical release of Sitaare Zameen Par scheduled for Friday, June 20, the buzz around advance bookings supports Aamir’s confidence. Even trade analysts agree that his decision could be a game-changer for theatres.

Aamir has crafted a well-thought-out strategy to ensure Sitaare Zameen Par reaches its audience in the most impactful way. Like its spiritual predecessor Taare Zameen Par, this film too carries a strong message and purpose. Initially, Aamir had considered releasing the film directly on YouTube under a paid category. But with rising excitement and momentum around the film, he opted for a theatrical release first. Encouraged by the enthusiastic response from theatres, Aamir further distanced the film from immediate OTT discussions.

After declining a Netflix deal, he also turned down a highly lucrative ₹120 crore streaming offer from Amazon Prime Video. Aamir has clearly stated that he will take a call on the film’s digital release only two months after its theatrical run begins.
