Interestingly Aamir’s 60th birthday (March 14th) this year coincides with the Holi Utsav. During his initial career phase, Aamir has acted in a landmark multi-starrer movie titled ‘Holi’ (1984) which was directed by the maverick acclaimed film-maker Ketan Mehta.
As an eminent film journalist, I have had the privilege to personally meet and interview articulate affable award-winning actor Aamir Khan (Mohammed Aamir Hussain Khan) at his Bandra residence, even before the release of his first debut movie ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’(1988). After the exclusive interview at his Bandra residence, modest Aamir was courteous enough to drive and drop me in his own car, at the taxi-stand near Bandra railway station. Prior to that, he even discussed about his daring killer role in this dark crime-thriller movie ‘Raakh’ (1989) and we both attended a special preview of the same film ( Raakh), much before its release. Aamir won prestigious Filmfare acting debut award for ‘QSQT’ and a National Film Award for his riveting performance in ‘Raakh’.. Must also add here that I knew and often interacted with Aamir’s friendly visionary film-maker father Tahir-saab Hussain...
In a grand tribute to one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated actors, PVR INOX, the country’s largest and most prestigious cinema exhibition theatre-chain company, has announced Aamir Khan: Cinema Ka Jaadugar, a special film festival honouring Aamir Khan’s illustrious career. The festival, which has already generated immense excitement among moviegoers, will take loyal-ardent Aamir fans audiences on a cinematic journey through the works of the legendary actor and filmmaker.
Recalled Javed Akhtar, "Aamir did a film with Ashutosh ('Lagaan') with whom he had a flop before. A new director, Farhan came to you with a three-heroes film ('Dil Chahta Hai') and you did it. Who would have done 'Dangal' in their right mind. Role of such an elderly father who loses to his own tough daughter in wrestling-grappling in the mud-sand pit. All actors work in films of directors who have given hits. You take chances no other can," complimented Javed Akhtar.
PVR INOX theatres nationwide are poised to host Aamir Khan: Cinema Ka Jaadugar, offering fans a chance to experience the brilliance of Aamir Khan’s most iconic performances once again on the big screen.
