Ananya Panday Breaks Silence on Body Shaming, Says “People Used to Call Me a Matchstick”

Ananya Panday, who won everyone’s hearts with her powerful acting in Akshay Kumar’s superhit film Kesari Chapter 2, has finally broken her silence on the issue of body shaming. She stated that people will criticize you no matter how you look.

Faced Insults About Her Body

In a recent podcast, Ananya Panday opened up about the personal experiences she has faced since the beginning of her career.  She shared how she was body-shamed and trolled — sometimes for being too skinny, and now for changes in her body, even getting accused of undergoing surgery.

Ananya said, “When I entered the film industry, I was just 18 or 19 years old. At that time, I was very thin and people would make fun of me. Some would say my legs looked like chicken legs, some would say I looked like a matchstick. People even said I didn’t have breasts or hips.”
She added, “Now that I am naturally growing and my body is changing, people say I’ve had surgery. It’s really unfortunate. No matter what size or shape you are, people will say something — especially if you’re a woman. This hardly happens to men.”

Films Set Unrealistic Beauty Standards

Ananya also admitted that films themselves are partly responsible, as they often set unrealistic beauty standards. She said, “In movies, they show that someone looks beautiful even right after waking up — but that’s not real.”

Fast Metabolism Helps Me Eat What I Like

Ananya has often mentioned in her interviews that she has a fast metabolism.
She shared that because of her good metabolism, she is able to eat whatever she likes, and her weight doesn’t increase quickly.

Ananya Panday made her Bollywood debut in 2019 with Student of the Year 2.
After that, she was seen in: Pati Patni Aur Woh, CTRL, Khaali Peeli, Gehraiyaan, Liger, Dream Girl 2,  Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, and OTT web series Call Me Bae
