Actor Himanshu Malhotra, who made his Bollywood debut with Shershaah, is set to appear in the upcoming film Kesari Veer. In this movie, he portrays Rasool Khan, the younger brother of Vivek Oberoi's character, Zafar Khan. In a recent exclusive interview, Himanshu discussed his role, preparation for the film, and his experiences working with co-stars Suniel Shetty and Vivek Oberoi.
Your film 'Kesari Veer' is releasing soon. Can you tell us about your role?
In 'Kesari Veer', I portray Rasool Khan, a calm yet impactful warrior. He's the younger brother of Zafar Khan, played by Vivek Oberoi, and shares a deep loyalty towards him.
How has the audience reacted to the film's trailer?
The trailer received a positive response from viewers. Interestingly, audiences requested to watch it multiple times, which was heartening for us.
What preparations did you undertake for this historical film?
To embody Rasool Khan, I trained in dual-sword combat, as the character fights with both hands. I also learned horse riding and worked on enhancing my physique. This role was a new challenge, portraying a silent yet powerful warrior.
How did you come to be part of 'Kesari Veer'?
About 12-13 years ago, during my time on Yash Raj's TV show 'Seven', Prince Dhiman was an assistant director. We had discussed collaborating in the future. Years later, he approached me with the story of 'Kesari Veer', offering me a significant role, which I accepted.

What was it like working with veteran actor Suniel Shetty?
Working with Suniel Sir was inspiring. His discipline and dedication motivated me to improve. On set, he was supportive and encouraging, creating a positive environment. I recall when the film was edited, he called to praise my performance, which meant a lot.
Can you describe the atmosphere on the set of 'Kesari Veer'?
The set felt like a family. The cast and crew collaborated closely, fostering a strong team spirit. The presence of seasoned actors like Suniel Sir, Vivek Oberoi, and Sooraj Pancholi inspired us to deliver our best.
How do you reflect on your experience in 'Nach Baliye 7'?
'Nach Baliye 7' was a memorable journey. Amruta and I participated together and emerged as winners. It strengthened our bond through dance. A particular video from the show, where I mentioned, "When someone is no more, what will we do? Life goes on," still resonates with me, highlighting the importance of moving forward in life
Are you considering participating in another dance reality show?
Dance has always been a passion. If a show like 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' returns, I might consider it. However, my focus has shifted more towards acting projects now.
Do you and Amruta plan to work together on any future projects?
Amruta and I prefer to keep our professional and personal lives separate. While we enjoyed working together on 'Nach Baliye', our work styles and preferences differ, making future collaborations unlikely.
Which role do you believe significantly advanced your career?
My role in the TV show 'Bhagowali' was pivotal, offering me a distinct character with a unique dialect. Additionally, portraying Rajeev in 'Shershaah' contributed greatly to my growth as an actor.
You once posted, " "Ishwar kehte hain, main tujhe sab kuch doonga, bas tu apni farmaaishein na kar, man ki zidd chhod aur sabr kar." Can you elaborate on this?
This was a spontaneous reflection of my thoughts. I believe that our desires and expectations often lead to distress. The universe tests us, and if deemed worthy, it grants us what we need.
How would you define love?
Love is an enigma, but I believe it's rooted in truth. When deceit enters, it's no longer love.
‘Kesari Veer' is set to release in theaters on May 23, 2025.
