After the success of the first Undercurrent Lab which trained ten women in film lighting  Richa Chadha and her husband Ali Fazal are ready to expand this initiative for talented ambitious women professionals in the film industry.

Building on the impressive success of the first edition Undercurrent Lab is set to return with a broader focus in 2025- The initial workshop was a unique hands-on training program that selected ten talented women through a strict interview process to master the art of lighting for cinema. During a week-long crash course, these women received direct guidance from the film industry's experienced gaffers and cinematographers. They gained priceless real-world experience by working as trainees on active film sets. Notably two participants secured prestigious positions in the all-female crew for Richa and Ali's debut production "Girls Will Be Girls."

Building on their recent success, they made for each other power couple Richa Chadha and Ali are excited to start a new department for film production under their banner of Undercurrent Lab. This new initiative aims to create more opportunities for talented and hardworking women who want to make their mark in the film industry.

Speaking about the new version Richa Chadha shared  “The success of the first version of Undercurrent Lab is truly inspiring. We came across incredible talent and passion as these women not only learned the technical details of lighting but also understood the creative spirit of cinema. Their achievements—especially with some joining our almost all-female crew for 'Girls Will Be Girls'—show our commitment to supporting women's talent in every aspect of film production.”

She adds  "Ali and I are taking an adventurous step forward with UnderCurrent Lab 2025- We are starting a new department that will offer extensive training in different areas of filmmaking ensuring that more women have the chance to enter this competitive industry. This initiative is about creating opportunities building confidence and providing a platform for ambitious women professionals. I am really excited about this next chapter and I believe it will be a catalyst for more inclusive and innovative storytelling in cinema. The second edition of UnderCurrent Lab is set to further bridge the gap in the film industry by offering special training and real-world experience for women eager to fulfill their dreams in filmmaking."
